The Mad Mission series is quite unlike any stunt-laden movie from 1980's Hong Kong. The series--a combination of odd humor and stunts in the Jackie Chan manner--is very entertaining by shoving as many stunts, puns, and gags into an hour and twenty-three minutes has humanly possible.

This time around our hero Sam, infamous thief and reluctant hero, is attacked in Paris by an attractive Chinese woman and then by Jaws and Oddjob from the Bond series (played by both Richard Kiel and Harold Sakata respectively and badly dubbed) before falling into the Seine and being swallowed whole by a giant metal shark. This elaborate beginning is just so James Bond (!) can hire Sam out to rescue the British Crown Jewels...or rather, steal them. This Bond character is really a fraud!

The beauty of the Mad Mission series is that it takes popular characters from American culture and turns them on their head. Just like in the previous entry's enemy of Filithy Harry (a parady on Clint Eastwood's Man with No Name and Dirty Harry) and the recurring charcter of Kodyjack (a parady of Kojak!), this one takes aim at Ian Fleming's most recognized character. To add to the fun this time is guest star Peter Graves as Tom Collins, the real British agent who must retrieve the Crown Jewels after Sam steals them. Sadly, Graves and Kiel and Sakata's are dubbed horribly but doesn't destroy the enjoyment.

To describe any more of this movie would be a shame as it's a bunch of neat effects and comedy but it is definitely worth searching out.

Five Stars out of Five, impressive especially considering it's over twenty years old.
