Because it just had to be done.
My name is Lotus666 (Lotus for the car and the Tennyson Poem...& 666 for my supposed devilish sense of humour).
I used to live in Australia, but now live in the UK and have done for the last seven and a half years, of which I've been married to TB (aka TopBanana) for seven. We have our own house now (finally!) and two black and white cats called Essie and Greebo. I love the UK, and I love castles and photography - normally together! :666:
Also used to work for Specsavers Opticians for 6 years, but have just resigned, and am currently jobless until I start work next Tuesday at a small opticians in Lymm with someone whom I used to work with who quit Speccies about 4 months ago.
Here's a pic taken from 2005 - the girl I'm off to work with (we get along really well together) is on the right, with me on the left. :)

Hello everyone, my name is Nixxi or as others call me here werebear lady.
I'm your local Canuck however I've been living in the UK now just over 2 1/2 years.
I'm married to Pro aka Promodfor just over 2 years now.
I'm not sure if I will want to finish off my days here in the UK. My other half refuses to retire here. He wants to move to the Great White North once our house is paid for 5-10 years to go. What I don't like about the UK is driving on the wrong side on these bloody horse and buggy roads and the grocery shopping does my head in (everything in small packaging) :smash:
I've been working at our local Council for just under 2 years now... yes, it pays the bills and not my dream job. Most time it's a :groan: type job however it does have it's moments.
I also enjoy visiting all the Casltes and :666: taking.
My goals while living over on this side of the pond would be to visit as many European countries as possible... so Pro:whip: crack-on I have many places to get to and see hehe
Another passion of mine is taking care of our backyard garden.. it's so theraputic :)
Allo, call me El_Diablo/Tom/Dvo.
I'm your local yankee boy. Been around hashnet/NGUK since i was about 12. ha, go me.
I'm currently your average borderline alcoholic/american college student
Electrical Engineering major
I work at a horse show, catering the foods of rich equestrian types across the US, its just my summer gig but boy does it pay the bills for me being in school.
(edit)
also, i spend all of my spare time playing left4dead on my 360. if any of you play, my xbox live alias is d3v5o)

And I go by that on 360 as well, El_D. So if you want to play Left4Dead, throw me a line. I still need a few fucking achievements.

Lord Finisher
09-08-09, 11:13 PM
I'm Lord Finisher (most call me LF) and I'm the resident game addict/tech head. I originally came up with the name ever since I played the Heroes of Might and Magic demo that came with a PC Gamer magazine - everyone was called "Lord" this or "Lady" that on the high score boards, so I went "Lord Finisher" because you had 4 in-game months to win because of the demo's time constraints, and I usually defeated them beforehand.
If there's a game I haven't heard of, and you mention it to me, I'll do enough research on it (and probably kick the tar out of it in no time flat) to be able to keep up with conversations and probably steer you towards some of my more favored series/titles.
I play a LOT of games, and my console game collection is well over 1,500 legal titles (roms, emucrapers and what not, I do not and refuse to count). I've spent a lot of effort into this money-sink I call a hobby, the rest call a psychotic obsession. I might post my list in the forums at a later date (or if I'm begged enough).
I also learned a lot about electronics proxy to my curiosity of compy building and console modding. I've made 3 ModBOXes (modifed XBOXes - for import use), two modded PS2s (for import use), a modded Genesis and Super Nintendo (both for import use - notice a trend yet?). I learn and adapt fast. Frighteningly fast. I also have an imported Sega Saturn.
I used to play a lot of multiplayer PC games back in the Counter-Strike days, but I've given it up as I have no method of tracking people down and virus bombing them to death (dealing with online assholes is no fun at all). I'll get back into online gaming via PC if there's someone with a game or ten that I know and is willing to play with me, but otherwise, forget it - random variables (who default to jackass) can die for all I care.
I have a 360, I'm rarely on it as the thing is probably the most twitchy and picky console I've ever had. I'm gonna try to get a Jasper the minute I get a job - this console wasn't bad originally, then it red-ringed, I sent it in, and it's been so weak and slowed down since that it honestly isn't worth my time! My online handle for that is the same one as here. Friend me if you want, but if you know who I am from these boards, I'll be more likely to accept a friend invite if you'll also mention where you saw me.
I'm as sober as they come and do not find enjoyment from listening how high/drunk some people get. I can live with such humor as long as I know that's gonna be the case from the get go, i.e. The Lotus Position Drinking Game or Cheech & Chong movies, but if it just randomly shows up in conversation, well, you can figure it out.
I also play these games: Kingdom of Loathing (http://www.kingdomofloathing.com) Metroplexity (http://www.metroplexity.com) Twilight Heroes (http://www.twilightheroes.com)
I don't mind being civil, just keep in mind that if scorned, I will keep it in mind until revenge is inevitably gained. When revenge is gained, I go back to normal as if nothing happened.
Well I'm Vodor, and various variants throughout time, getting older just like you lot. Been around since, hmm perhaps close to the beginning? What was it, netgames or something? I can't really remember.
Real names Ian Hellier, finally gave in to facebook and now actually enjoying it, gone from investing to computers (money drain) to learning how to DJ (fun drain) and now back to my youth of Tennis (no drain) and cycling (big fat worth-it drain) planning on competing in the 60 mile-ish london to brighton ride again after a few years off!

Kewl Vod - tennis eh? Come up and play a game with me? :)
Heck yeah, though everyone who wants a game always lives a billion miles away!

After realizing most people put up pictures of themselves, I decided to make one using a generic picture maker - the style's pretty much the same (face not exact) and it'd look like me if I ever got around to shaving this crap off of my face.
Hope you enjoy.

Good lord...you're looking all...responsible...and grown-up! :) Good pic, man!
Yes, i have grown up. I am responsible. i.. i.. have to cry now!
Ex-masochist.. well, maybe it's impossible to ever truly be an ex-masochist, it could be dormant. Anyway my girlfriend doesnt want to hurt me. :(
Ex gamer since.. quite a while. I simply lack the time. I do still game occasionally game at work, since part of my work is testing graphics cards and gamer mice/joysticks/steering wheels. :D

Lord Destroyer
10-09-09, 03:27 AM
I'm Lord Destroyer (LD for short, as Lotty and most regulars around here know), and I'm LF's elder brother. I'm older than him by 8 years, 3 months, 2 weeks, and 3 days. However, LF is the taller of us (I stand about 6' 1", LF is easily 6' 4" (maybe more)).
I moved around a lot in my youth because my dad was in the U.S. Navy (he's now a retired Master Chief (and y'all may dispense with the Halo jokes, 'kay?)) - before I was 10, I lived in 7 different places inside the United States (2 in Illinois, 4 in California, and my current residence in Florida).
I picked the name partially because of what LF posted regarding Heroes of Might and Magic (high score tables had Lord this and Lady that), but also because when the time is right, I tend to destroy my opposition.
I'm an old-school gamer and a big fan of musical funnyman "Weird Al" Yankovic. I first heard of the Weird One when I was but a lad of 7 when he had his first huge hit with Eat It, then I lost track of him until his next big hit, Fat. I finally got into collecting his albums when I was in high school and came to realize what I missed over the years. I recently saw him in concert and had a blast.
As far as gaming goes...I'm a loner. I'm not fond of playing online and rarely (if ever) play multiplayer stuff. I am considering getting a Wii Motion Plus for the other Wii Remote so me and LF can go head-to-head in Wii Sports Resort Swordplay.
Whereas LF seeks to expand his game collection whenever possible, I do the same with DVDs. My list of owned DVDs. (http://lorddestroyer.dvdaf.com/owned)
I've thought of doing my own Let's Play series (I admit I enjoy the occasional DeceasedCrab, HCBailly, jefmajor, Frankomatic, or UnPlayedAThing video), but I'm not sure what. I've thought about maybe Super Bases Loaded 2 for the Super NES, but seeing as I'm sure most people around here aren't into baseball and my expressions borrow heavily on some of the great broadcasters over the years (Harry Caray, Howard Cosell, and Red Barber to name a few), it probably wouldn't be that great. But then again...nothing ventured, nothing gained.
As far as drinking goes, I'm a teetotaler for the most part. The last alcoholic drink I had was a little more than 5 years ago at my high school reunion. I don't care for beer, I'm not sure about wine, and haven't really gotten into the hard stuff. I'm probably more of a soda addict - my beverage of choice would have to be Mountain Dew.

I'm Camy and I've managed to get to 24 so far ^^ I'm Russian by origin, but have lived in Norway for the past 8.5 years, however, if everything goes according to plan I will be moving over to UK within a year from now to get married to my amazing fiance and start breeding little Camys, not that the world needs another one of me, but you know..
Completely unstable and explosive. I'm also loyal, too honest for my own good and a complete nutjob, known to bounce at the most inappropriate moments. Completely addicted to everything fluffy, sparkly and PINK, like soft toys. You should see my room. Or maybe you shouldn't, for your own sanity.
I have -the best job in the world- and it's my dream place to be and I absolutely love it. I love waking up in the mornings and going to work. I get to play outside most of the day, watch Disney classics on the rainy days and make mud cakes in the sand box. We also build entire cities out of Duplo and draw funny pictures with crayons. And I get payed to do it, too. Primary school is the place to be ^^
And this is me:

18-09-10, 11:27 PM
Hello (again).
Rainiacs will have got to know me over the past year or so, but i never really did a proper intro, so here I am...
Maggie from Gloucestershire (originally from Kent), UK.
Live with my hubby of 13 years and my springer spaniel. Work as a part-time admin assistant, after being made redundant from my previous senior sales role in local media - and loving the lack of stress and increase in sleep!!
Here's a pic of me and my former colleagues at my media job, at an awards ceremony - half the people in the pic were made redundant later the same year!! I'm the one in purple, wearing specs (and with a fizzy pink drink..!)
Lotus666
18-09-10, 11:30 PM
Thanks, Maggie (funny how I keep wanting to call you Mistress Whisky?! ;) )...good pic of you - love the dress. :)
Lack of stress is always good (as is extra sleep). Thanks for posting.
Maggie Whisky
18-09-10, 11:35 PM
Ha ha - you can call me Mistress if you like!! I only changed to Maggie cos everyone got to know who I really was anyway..
Should I have mentioned in my introduction that I'm in love with Alan Rickman? I guess it will come out in due course anyway...

I hope so - I expect you to post an AR thread somewhere hereabouts certainly! ;)

I'm hoyateach, another refugee from Barry Eisler's site. I'm a full-time teacher, full-time husband and father, and part-time writer. I have a sense of humor as warped as the original mirror for the Hubble Telescope. And I'm geeky enough to compare myself to the Hubble Telescope.
Nice to be here.
Hi, I am Paul- another one transferring over from the Barry Eisler site.
An avid reader of thrillers and historical fiction (my wife wishes I'd slow down my 1 book a week habit as we are running out of book shelves), husband and father of one. Live in Albuquerque, NM-
Lotus666
19-09-10, 11:11 PM
Heya! ONLY 1 book a week? You'll have to pick up the pace mate - I've been reading at least 2 a week when I am at work (and I only work 3 days luckily  ). You should see the book shelves my Father-in-law built for us! I'm a fan of historical fiction myself - which period?
Anyway, welcome aboard!
Hello. A Rainiac here. I'm Dan, aka, Raider. Huge Oakland Raiders fan. (Try not to hold it against me).
I'm a single (but engaged) dad of three. Andrew (11) and twins Brett and Cassie (7).
Met my soulmate Lishous ON the Barry Eisler site. And we are getting married next summer.
I moved 1500 miles from Spokane, WA to Centerville, IA about two years ago to be with Alisha. Now we are in the planning stages of our wedding...
I enjoy reading Barry Eisler, Chuck Palahniuk, David Gerrold, David Morrell and a host of others.
Thanks for opening your place up to us refugees Lotus!
Lotus666

Done gladly, Raider - I couldn't leave such good folk without a place to congregate and chat...and people here are friendly, if somewhat absent/quiet at times (please don't take that as snobby or anything, as they are far from it). I'm hoping the Rainiacs will make some welcome noise about the place! ;) I'm sure everyone will get along swimmingly!
Nice intro, Raider!
/Users/pauldoak/Desktop/Picture 1.png
With a 5 month old son and my wife heading back to school to become a nurse, I am lucky to get one book a week.
Historical Fiction- I've been into Bernard Cornwell's Saxon Series- set in the late Viking times- will have to fast foward to read Agincourt (Azincourt for those across the pond) due to the rave reviews.
So yes, I am another one that used to have time, then got married and have a child.
Will try to get some other discussions going when I am a bit less sleep deprived.
Okay- technical question- I was trying to copy Lotus666's reply to my intro into my reply- so that it would make more sense being a day later- but I don't think I did that right.
Lotus666
20-09-10, 04:28 PM
No probs - to copy my reply to your intro into your reply - simply click the "Quote" button - ie, the one on my post. That should then post what I said. Mind you, we're all fairly relaxed here. A short cut we used to use when the boards was busier, was putting person's name in bold so we knew who you were replying to. :)
Either way is good. You'll get the hang of it. Besides, I remember what I was like when mine was 5 months old (at least the first one) - I got NOTHING done! I call them "The Lost Years"!

I`m an American living in Northern Japan. I teach junior high and high school English.I love the kids andenjoy the work alot, but I`d be much happier if I could spend all day cooking. Well, Ridley - you thought of a title for yourself yet? :)
Lotus, lemme tell you about our very own Ridley here. The man has a voice like velvet... you should hear him sing. But his true talent, other than the writing, of course, is the poetry reading. He often is a guest on the radio and reads aloud erotic poetry, often times in French, and leaves a trail of... trail of... :boom: in a wake behind him. That has GOT to give you some kind of inkling of an idea for the perfect title for Russell.
Lotus666
07-10-10, 06:59 AM
 I can think of a couple, but Russell may find them a bit...soppy!
(...and yes, I've heard his dulcet tones, and the man can sing! :) )
