They're dropping like flies now...
Actor Dennis Hopper dead at age 74. (http://www.cnn.com/2010/SHOWBIZ/05/29/obit.dennis.hopper1/index.html)
The only things I can recall offhand regarding Dennis Hopper was him as King Koopa in the live-action version of Super Mario Bros (that movie was the primary reason why I'm not for live-action renditions of cartoons and/or video games). He was also one of the chain-gang prisoners in Cool Hand Luke - he was the one called Babalugats (usually called on when a member of a chain gang made a bet).
And another...
Rue McClanahan, known for her role as Blanche in The Golden Girls, dead at 76. (http://goldderby.latimes.com/awards_goldderby/2010/06/golden-girls-leading-lady-rue-mcclanahan-dies-at-76.html)
I have a Christmas Card from Art Linkletter taken when his family were all just little kids , was posted to a member of Parliment here in Australia .
The fellow was some dude high up who adminstered a company my ex worked for & he & another fellow had to take a load of stuff to the dump from his mansion when he moved house , found all these postcards & christmas cards from OS's digniteries to him.
On a more sombre not ,I lost my youngest son (30) last year , just coming out of the fog that was my life ,miss you so much Michael .

I used to like watching Art Linkletter when I was a young'un.
Sad to hear you lost your youngest, Gypsy - it can't be easy to see your own child pass.
Truly sorry to hear of your loss - I know how much he meant to you.

Yankees owner George Steinbrenner dead at 80. (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/bbo_obit_steinbrenner)
Only stuff I knew about him was what I read in Balls by Graig Nettles and Peter Golenbock (I only got a copy because Nettles played on the Padres when they won their first pennant in 1984).
He was my rock & has left a huge hole in my heart , I know he gave me a few problems in his teens but had matured into a beautiful caring soul & deeply missed by all who knew him .There were almost 400 people at his Celebration of Live & his friends have shared many things with me that make me 1 very proud mum , just don't understand why he was taken from us .Luv you Grub

Bobby Thomson, best known for his 1951 pennant-winning home run dubbed "The Shot Heard 'Round The World", dies at 86. (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2010/08/18/SPIJ1EVH1Q.DTL)
Although that pennant-winning homer happened a little less than 25 years before I was born (hell, my dad was about 6 years old when it happened!), I heard a recording of Russ Hodges' play-by-play about it and I could just feel the excitement surrounding it.
The play-by-play went like so:
"Hartung, down the line at third, not taking any chances. Lockman with not too big a lead at second, but he'll be running like the wind if Thomson hits one. Branca throws...there's a long drive, it can be, I believe...THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! Bobby Thomson hits it in the lower deck of the left field stands, the Giants win the pennant, and they're going crazy! They're going crazy!"

Stand-up comedian Greg Giraldo dead at age 44. (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/gossip/2010/09/greg-giraldo-dead.html)
I saw him on a couple of Comedy Central Roasts - man, he never failed to make me double over in laughter. If there was somebody who cut to the quick when he was blasting somebody during his time on the podium at those roasts, it was him.

Totally gutted about his passing - he was a heartthrob of mine when I was in my teens, watching all those Saturday Matinee Movies on rainy afternoons.
I most remember him for the movies "The Great Race", "Trapeze", "Taras Bulba", and "Houdini". If I'd known what a MISHA was as a teenager...then, for sure...he would have been Top of the List.
Brilliant, handsome, and a terrific delivery in some of his more comic roles - he'll be gone but not forgotten...at least, not by me.

Bob Feller, Hall of Fame pitcher for the Cleveland Indians, dies at age 92. (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-obit-feller)
Although Feller was before my time, I heard plenty about him - he had a real fireball of a fastball. He pitched three no-hitters and was tied for the lead with Cy Young for the most until Sandy Koufax threw a fourth no-hitter (who, in turn, was topped by Nolan Ryan). He was on the Indians the last time they won it all (in 1948). Heaven only knows how many games he would have won if he didn't serve in World War II (he enlisted in the Navy the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor and served aboard the USS Alabama).

Prolific comedy director Blake Edwards dead at 88. (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/17/movies/17edwards.html)
The only thing I can associate with him is a well-known piece of music by Henry Mancini - the Pink Panther theme.
