Plants vs. Zombies - a PopCap game that is more than your run-of-the-mill tower defense type game.

Zombies of all kinds are invading your front yard, your backyard, and finally your roof at all hours hoping to get inside your house and eat your brains. Your only defense comes from plants that you put in your yard (some of them generate sun so you can put up stronger defenses/better attacks, some of them attack, some of them defend).

There are 5 areas (front yard, day; front yard, night; backyard w/ pool, day; backyard w/ pool, night; and roof, day), 10 levels per area. Every 5th level is somewhat like a "bonus stage" of sorts, ranging from take whatever plants you are given and defend against a horde of zombies to playing mini-games such as Vase Breaker and Whack-a-Zombie. The last stage of the 5th area is a boss fight of sorts against the mastermind of the zombie horde. It's a matter of fending off his attacks and his underlings while slowly destroying his creation.

The enemies are greatly varied with their strengths and weaknesses. Zombies with a metal bucket on their heads take a lot more damage than a basic zombie, but a magnet-shroom helps make short work of them.

Besides the Adventure mode, there are other modes (Puzzle, Mini-Game, Survival), and some other things are unlocked along the way (i.e. Crazy Dave's store, plant/zombie almanac, the Zen Garden). Let's just say there's a lot more to this than meets the eye.

Addicting? You bet. Time consuming? Oh yeah. Once again, PopCap provides a game of considerable challenge and fun, and if Yahtzee did a review on this, he'd reiterate some things he said about another PopCap game (Peggle).

Challenge - 9/10
Visuals - 9/10
Audio - 9/10
Fun - 10/10
Overall - 37/40

In a nutshell...AWESOME!

Great review, LD - just wondering why I've not seen it "Flag" as a new review though until now. However, excellent stuff as always! Thanks...
