22-08-09, 06:34 PM
...just finished waiting two hours to upload the damn movie.
It was 1.6 gigs in size (for 10 minutes). It's gonna be a while before they can transcode it to a proper level that is by their definition "viewable", then re-code it to a quality status, then re-re-code it for high quality.
Yeah, YouTube is nice, but it's also flawed in that it takes forever to do anything before you can see it in proper quality.
Not to mention making a vid using a game running 1600x1200 isn't exactly the most intelligent idea I've ever had. In fact, I'm never going to do it again as long as I live. You're probably better off waiting until tomorrow to view it.

It feels even better now that I've been at it for a few days...no sign of Preacher Girl (PG).
Looks like USPS wised up about her penchant for being condescending and talking down to those who don't do what she does when she's not at work. I knew her lagging behind so she could get in some last-minute preaching on August 15, 2008 would somehow come back to haunt her.
Lotus666
23-01-10, 11:07 PM
Oh yes, I remember PG - did she ever go at the preaching stuff with you, LD?
Lord Destroyer
24-01-10, 03:23 PM
She sure did. First time was sometime after I used a couple days' worth of annual leave (I was a Transitional Employee (TE) clerk at the time) to go see Weird Al at Florida Theatre.
I mentioned it, and I swear she went nuts. I told another co-worker about it, and he told me she got on his case about something of his not working out (made it sound like it was his fault it didn't work out when it wasn't) - and she also spoke ill of someone he knows.
The both of us would mention to each other about feeling disturbances in the Force whenever she was nearby and secretly called her Darth (her real name). She got increasingly preachy near the end and spent more time preaching instead of doing what she was hired to do.

I got an e-mail regarding my application for the Postal Service for the Christmas season - I have to be there at 8 AM that day for a pre-hiring orientation.
Guess the evening shift manager was a man of his word - he told me and the other casuals that night we were laid off that we would be considered for Christmas work if we apply.

For Sale: Land Roller skates, excellent condition, barely used. Women's size 8. Same skates that Cesar Milan uses.

http://achievements.schrankmonster.de/Achievement.aspx?text=5G%20-%20Dastardly Place a hogtied woman on the train tracks and witness her death by train.
I got the Duster coat for attaining Peacekeeper rank and completed the Bollard Twins gang outfit. Currently at Level 6 of Sharpshooter (shoot 2 hats off of different peoples' heads), Level 4 of Survivalist (pick 8 Prickly Pears - can't get it until Mexico is unlocked), Level 4 of Treasure Hunter (got the first map and 3 treasures so far - next one's down in Mexico, I daresay), and Level 4 of Master Hunter (collect 3 armadillo carapaces and 5 boar tusks - boars are damn hard to find).
Completed 2 Gang Hideouts (Twin Rocks and Tumbleweed), did all the missions for Bonnie MacFarlane except one (The Burning) and the first Marshal Johnson mission (Political Realities in Armadillo). Next Marshal Johnson mission should open up another Gang Hideout (Pike's Basin) and part 2 of the American Appetites Stranger task.

It is.
Finally got past that Master Hunter level where I had to get 3 armadillo carapaces and 5 boar tusks - found plenty of boars between MacFarlane's Ranch and Thieves' Landing. But the level after that...goddamn cougars! And I'm not talking about older women who like doing it with younger men either. Gotta kill 2 cougars with your knife and skin 'em. I managed to do it, but nearly got killed in the process.
The first one nearly got the drop on me, but if it weren't for a bunch of wolves closing in on some hapless traveler a short distance away, I wouldn't have heard it yowl until it pounced. I moved out of the way, then it acted like it wasn't interested in taking me on, so I went at it with the knife and it was dead right quick. The second one...that one got the drop on me. Good thing I had plenty of life-restoring medicine, otherwise another attack would've killed me. As I was moving away from where I killed and skinned the second cougar, two more showed up and nearly mauled me. I took them down with close-range rifle shots and skinned them quick, then got out of there fast. If I see another cougar, it'll be too soon.

...still having fun with Red Dead Redemption. Update on my progress in the Games Bragging thread.
But still...I hate those goddamn cougars!! I lost my horse (best kind in the game, the Kentucky Saddler) to a cougar, and had to spend time finding another one although I could've just coughed up $750 for the deed to another one at the Armadillo General Store.
Had a lot of fun using the Gatling gun in the mission "Assault on Fort Mercer". First time I used it, I was sounding off like Mac from Predator when he was using the minigun and the remaining commandos (one of them was played by Ah-nold) joined in the fray.

...currently looking forward to the new expansion pack for WoW - Cataclysm. Released on the 7th December - I may just be a wee bit involved again, as it is the exploring nature of the game that hooks me in. The game has just been sitting on my hard drive not doing anything for many months (other than the odd hour literally here and there).
It's big news for me because all the old worlds will be re-formed and different with new quests, so an exceptionally strong lure. :pom:

Yeah, almost like my current addiction with Red Dead Redemption. I finished up the Mexico missions today and unlocked the entire map.
Man, I thought cougars were bad news in RDR...bears are worse! What bears lack in terms of stealth, they make up for in raw power and the fact you DON'T EVER want to be on their bad side unless you'd rather wind up like Connavar in Sword in the Storm by the late David Gemmell.

...shocked to hear that prop comedian Gallagher collapsed at a show in Minnesota recently (read about it on Yahoo). According to the article, a witness to the collapse mentioned that Gallagher was complaining of shortness of breath and pain in his left arm earlier - I'm no doctor, but I daresay those are lesser-known symptoms of a heart attack. I hope he gets well soon.
A couple of favorite Gallagher lines:
"I wish there was a knob on the TV so you could turn up the intelligence. They got one marked "Brightness", but it don't work, does it?"
"Remember school, where you go to learn to communicate, and all they say is 'No talking'?"

I've already wrested control of Nordberg from the Empire and enslaved more than half of Nordberg's population as well as the person the Empire sent to govern that selfsame town. Still need to find the Green and Blue hives before I can finish enslaving all the inhabitants.
The Empire calls itself "Glorious"? Hah! They're the pioneers of what I call the FAILanx. The second you kill the formation's commanding officer, the soldiers break formation and run.

Got all hives, upgraded the barracks for Brown, Red, and Green minions to maximum and have the Blues upgraded to Level 3. Just need one more Dark Crystal to bump up the Blue barracks to maximum.
I'm currently in the Wastelands (area where the previous Overlord's Dark Tower stood) and retrieving the fragments of the old Tower Heart (got 3 out of 12 right now). Man, that area gives me the creeps.

...currently enjoying Mortal Kombat on the 360, having fun doing the fatalities. Some of them are hilarious, and others are downright brutal!
IMHO, the most brutal would be...
Kung Lao kicks his opponent so they're sprawled on their back, he takes off his hat and flings it into the ground so it's like the big saw blade at a sawmill, then drags his victim to the hat (the brim is a very sharp blade) and bisects 'em up the middle, crotch-first. Yeesh!
And the most hilarious would be...
Sindel grabs her opponent by the head and screams so powerfully that the victim's head explodes. The guys at Achievement Hunter call it the Ex-Wife because they equate her screaming to the nagging of an ex-wife or ex-girlfriend, I guess.

Been pulling long hours with USPS (it's the busy season right now) and I came on as extra help during the Christmas season as a casual mail handler.
My previous casual appointment expired in late August what with the new contract with PSEs (Postal Support Employees) starting up and I was unemployed until just after the start of this month. I found out someone I worked with in my last appointment is a PSE now and I'm (hopefully) next in line. The person in question scored 81.2 on the exam and made PSE about a month ago. I scored an 81 - so close, and yet so far.
