Went bowling today because Bowl America Southside had a deal going on this weekend - 99 cents per game, 99 cents for a hot dog, and 99 cents for a soda.
I bowled 3 games - scores were 135, 165, and 119. Not bad for someone who hasn't bowled in about a year.

Just found out that this coming November - HIT Entertainment will release the last 24 episode of Fraggle Rock in its own boxed set! By my figures, it should cover the last 11 episodes of its fourth season on TV, and all 13 episodes of its fifth and final season on TV.

Had a FANTASTIC birthday party last night, and (actually) looking forward to turning 50 on Wednesday. Hoping to go to Kenilworth Castle in the heart of Warwickshire on the actual day (if it's a fair day). :)

Now it's official...I have donated 30 gallons!
I was hooked up around 10:15 AM, and got off about 2 hours later. Long enough for me to watch Mel Brooks' History of the World Part I. Damn, I nearly split my sides laughing at the Stone Age bit about discovering music (heavy rock dropped on caveman's foot), as well as the Roman Unemployment Insurance bit.

Good day just got better - there's an officially sanctioned Windows 7-tan named Madobe Nanami, and the Japanese Windows 7 comes with an exclusive theme pack of her with voices for all the warnings and whatnot.
Guess who managed to get a copy of the theme pack? :)

On a side note, some other additional good news.
Ever since I bought my old Sega Genesis (that's a Mega Drive to everyone else) at a used shop in the far off year of 2006 AD, it's been nothing more than a hassle to get the blasted thing working.
I've had mostly these issues:
Garbled Audio/Video Output
Faulty Controller Ports (Inputs refused to work)
Faulty Power Connection
and the occasional "My cartridge is filthier than a hooker!"
I finally fixed it. Ripped out the circuit board, took a soldering iron to it, and fixed it. Had to buy a new AV cable, but eh, that's only $5 down the drain, and now I no longer have to deal with that nonsensical RF box.
100% working, no nonsense.
Awesome! =D
Lord Finisher
16-05-10, 11:59 AM
Also, I forgot to mention: I completed my two outstanding LPs.
My X-COM: UFO Defense Superhuman Antarctica Challenge was completed as well as my X-COM: Terror From the Deep run. A winnar is me!
Also, http://www.xcom.com to those of you who haven't heard yet - 2K Games is making a new X-COM.
We may finally have X-COM: Alliance. Who knows?

Took me about a week, but since I found out about Amateur Surgeon 2 on Adult Swim, I went at it whenever I could get at the computer and I wasn't too busy with work or other gaming endeavors...I NOW HAVE ALL A'S IN ACT 1!

Got A's on everybody in Amateur Surgeon 2's second act except for the last guy - talk about HARD! And I'll have to get all A's if I want to unlock Act 2's secret character.
EDIT: Never mind - got an A on the last guy and unlocked the secret character. The secret character is UNBELIEVABLY HARD. I haven't the faintest idea how the hell to get his heart rate to stay above 30 for longer than 30 seconds without something going wrong and it all goes to hell.
Lotus666
20-06-10, 03:15 PM
To hell...in a handbasket? :D
Lord Destroyer
20-06-10, 05:17 PM
I did it!! :woot:
Finally figured out what I was doing wrong on the secret surgery in Act 2. Left out the damn syringe of all things...
A combination of lighter on the finger, cough syrup on the mouth, vampire tears on the heart, electroshock therapy with the car battery, and the syringe full of happy juice makes it so. Just keep the heart rate above 30 for 30 seconds...you got it! One solid A for your efforts as well as a somewhat moving ending for AS2. When I'm not too busy, I'll post a walkthrough for all surgeries in AS2.
And here's the proof I have all A's in both acts!

While I was out running errands, I stopped by Tilt at Regency Square Mall and saw they rearranged the games again. While the only DDR machine had a marquee saying DDR Extreme...guess what mix it REALLY was?
That's right...DDR 5th MIX!! :woot: :ddr: :ddr:
I was so overjoyed that I played a quick round. My results:
Moonlight Shadow (Basic, 4) - B (broke the combo a couple of times, but I still got the moves)
Boom Boom Dollar K.O.G. G3 Mix (Basic, 5) - A (getting warmed up)
Hero Happy Grandale Mix (Basic, 4) - AA (FULL COMBO! 135 Perfect, 30 Great)

Got any tips for playing DDR, LD? :)
PS...sounds like you did fantastic - grats! :D
Lord Destroyer
25-06-10, 09:33 PM
I sure do.
Beginner tips:
1. Stand on the pad with each foot on a different arrow - I go with left foot on left arrow, right foot on right arrow; LF went for left foot on up arrow, right foot on down arrow (just so he could strike some martial arts pose).
2. Do NOT stand in the middle of the pad, step on the arrow, then back into the center - you'll wear yourself out very quickly and look pretty clumsy on anything above 1-foot ranking. Someone was kind enough to point that out to me when I got started back in '01 and within a couple of months, I was a crowd-puller at Regency Square Mall.
3. Move your body as a unit - alternate your feet when stepping whenever possible (basically, don't favor one foot), and pivot and turn your body accordingly.
4. For beginners, it's advisable to stick with songs with a BPM (beats per minute) of 120 - 150. Get some experience under the belt before you go for anything slower than 120 or faster than 150.
5. Number of feet = how difficult the song is. The higher the number, the harder it is.
6. Basic/Light = easy, Trick/Standard = medium, Maniac/Heavy = hard.
7. Remain hydrated - DDR is a guaranteed way to break a sweat.
8. Pace yourself. There's no reward for speed. You're not any less a player than some show-off who boasts they were doing catas (9-footers) within a week because you choose to take your time.
9. Haste makes waste of you at DDR - those who act like people will think less of them because they were still doing 5-footers after a month and rush themselves will pay for it a lot later in the form of pulled or torn muscles, tendons, and/or ligaments.
Lotus666
25-06-10, 10:50 PM
Sounds a fine art indeed - thanks for the instruction. Mind you, DDR is a lot harder to find over here than there by the sounds of it. Only ever seen 1 - 3 machines.

28-06-10, 11:38 PM
Guess I was a mite premature regarding the arcade at Regency Square Mall - I went by there hoping to play a few rounds of DDR 5th Mix...it's now DDR Max 2 (7th mix). Oi...
All the same, I did a round today. The run-down:
Midnite Blaze (Basic, 4) - A (a couple of people watched and applauded my performance)
Nothing Gonna Stop (Dance Mania Mix) (Trick, 5) - C
Absolute (Basic, 3) - B

Happy thought:
Went to Dave & Buster's for the first time in nearly 2 years (last time I went was for a birthday celebration for LF involving a lot of his friends from school back in October '08) and had a wonderful time.
Games I played:
Guitar Hero Arcade - I did "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" by Pat Benatar on Easy and nearly aced it (flubbed the next-to-last note). That run had a 240-note streak and an overall score of about 62,400 (give or take a few hundred points).
Deal or No Deal (ticket game) - I had a helluva great run going my first time. I selected case #3 and as the game proceeded, I eliminated the cases with the small ticket numbers one by one until there were 2 cases left (the one I picked and one on the floor). The values left - 200 tickets and 400 tickets. Deal was for 300 tickets...I wasn't feeling lucky, so I took the deal. Turned out the case I selected had 400 tickets! Unreal!
HyperBowl - Went with the standard lane and rolled a 158. Couldn't get a strike to save my life, and got a couple of ugly splits along the way (failed to convert 'em).
Big Bass Big Wheel (or something like that) - Spin it like the Big Wheel from The Price Is Right and win whatever tickets you land on (I won 80 tickets...a little more force and I would've won 1,000!).
Overall, I won more than 700 tickets and put 'em on my D&B Power Card.

First day - orientation started at 6:30 PM, ended 3 hours later, went to work until just before 2 AM.

I met up with a supervisor I had over the years yesterday - he's retiring today, and he told me he appreciated my help and I was a great worker. LD - missed your post in all the fun & games of looking after MIL after her broken ankle/illness. Sad to hear you're out of your job again til next Xmas. With any luck, they will need a good steady worker, and re-employ you before then.
LF, well experience is good too. Will give you cred when you go looking for an employed (and waged) job.
MY Super Happy Thought for the day is that after 6 days of work straight (though only a half day on Monday) - I have the day off today, work 1/2 day tomorrow, then go back to my 2 days off Tues/Wed...but get a whopping big pay packet to look forward to at the end of February (which will help enormously after the expenses of Xmas/New Year/January). :yip:

Got a call yesterday from the Jacksonville NDC (where I worked previously) asking if I was interested in an evening shift clerk position. I said "yes" and called the number I was told to call this morning (when the call came yesterday, the person I had to call had left for the day).

19-03-11, 09:41 PM
Another one:
Haven't gotten the call yet, but there's still a week to go - something else.
I went out to Lake City and helped my dad gather fallen limbs and leaves and was an amateur pyro in burning the stuff - I arrived home a couple of hours ago. Got myself an extra $20 for my effort and I also brought my new camera with me.
I took a picture of Silky in another new snooze spot - a bassinet that was used when me, LF, and my older sister (God rest her soul) were babies...and it was used back when my mom was a baby (that bassinet's near 65 years old at least - I don't know if it was used with any of my mom's siblings when they were babies (she's the fourth of 7 kids)). Silky just LURVES snoozing in it.
Before I went to bed last night, Coal was hanging around near the back door, doing something that was a cross between a growl and a howl - guess the neighbor's new kitty, named Sharkey, was hanging around and Coal was none too happy about it. The neighbors got Sharkey some time after their previous kitty, Dopey, passed away. I've yet to see Sharkey myself - apparently he stays inside and snoozes all day, then roams about outside at night.
I also met the neighbors' little Pomeranian, named Kiki. Talk about an excitable ball of fluff - she kept hopping about near my legs like I was dangling a hot dog near my knees.
Lord Destroyer
25-03-11, 05:18 AM
Got the call...I start Saturday, March 26th at 4:30 PM! :woot: :woot:
I hope this leads to something more permanent - I heard rumors of casual and Transitional Employee (TE) positions being abolished and replaced by something called Non-Career Assistant - which seems to be a TE with even more benefits.
When I was a TE, I got annual leave and raises in my wages. I hear the rumored new positions include not only the leave and raises, but also medical benefits and eventual promotion to full-time regular employee with all the bells and whistles, according to seniority.

Been at it for a little more than a week...no sign of Preacher Girl (PG).

Got some further news about the position I may get soon.
It's called a PSE (Postal Support Employee) and it's kinda like a Transitional Employee (TE) but with a little bit more. My dad told me he saw a list of those who would become a PSE soon - and my name is at the top of the list.
Not only that - I have a feeling the transition from casual to PSE is going to be very soon. At work on Wednesday, June 1 - I went through keyer training. It was the usual 10-key thing along with the Non-Zip key, and it had 8 modules. I blasted right through it - I completed the whole thing in about half an hour! :woot: :woot:

I'm still in the running to become a PSE (Postal Support Employee) clerk - I took a postal exam today, and I scored an 81 (lowest acceptable grade is 70).

Nice one, LD - sounds like you're on the way. Wishing you all good luck with that as I know how much it means to you. *H*

Finally got further word regarding the PSE position - got an e-mail for an interview on July 28th at 8 AM.

Went through the interview - I will be recommended for the position! Gotta pass a drug screen (no problem, only drug they'll find on me would be caffeine), a background check, and a medical evaluation. And that's for a facility that's closer to where I live (Jacksonville P&DC on Kings Road downtown).
Also, someone at work said he had it on good authority that I'm among those who will be brought back as a PSE at my current workplace (Jacksonville NDC)!
Not only that - I'm more than certain I've lost a few pounds. When I put on my dress pants for the interview this morning, the pants came on very easily - last time, it was a considerable struggle getting them on.

Happy thought:
Just pre-ordered Saints Row the Third for the XBox 360.
From what I've seen of preview videos and from what I've read on the Saints Row Wiki, it sounds like it's gonna be a LOT of FUN! This one's got some huge shoes to fill in terms of topping Saints Row 2 in terms of fun.
Also, I call dibs on reviewing Saints Row the Third.

And another:
Next Tuesday - Saints Row the Third comes out, AND...I have blood bank appointment that day. Assuming I'm not deferred, this donation will put me squarely on 40 GALLONS.
My folks better watch out, I'm gaining on them. Mom's in the upper 40's - low 50's, and Dad's in the mid-40's.

Yet another:
Yesterday, I made a caption that reflected my standpoint on someone who's been overexposed as of late - Lindsay Lohan. She can flush her life down the toilet for all I care - what bugs me is how the media covers every tiny thing she does, not caring that the stuff she does isn't newsworthy.
Lo and behold, it was on the front page of ROFLrazzi (an offshoot of I Can Has Cheezburger - it focuses on captions of pictures of so-called celebrities)!
Check it out:

Today...
Lordy, Lordy, look who donated 40 (gallons, that is)!
I'll be getting a certificate the next time I go to donate (2 weeks from today) and I talked with the person I usually set up my appointments - she wanted me to tell her how I got started with donating blood/platelets. Sounds like she's intending to have an article about me in the next Blood Alliance publication!
To celebrate, I went to the St. Johns Town Center and tried this new eatery called French Fry Heaven. You can have regular fries or sweet potato fries, all with their own various toppings. I tried regular fries with garlic Parmesan...OMFG, MERE WORDS CAN'T DESCRIBE HOW GOOD THEY WERE!
And last night - midnight release of Saints Row the Third...GOT THE GAME! Can't wait to try it!

:D Lurve the LL caption (how true) and grats on the soon to be 40 gallons donated - a very worthy cause. The french fries sound yum (glad I've just had lunch else I'd be muchos hungry now!

Happy thought:
At work last night, I talked to one of the higher-ups - he dropped some hints that I just may make PSE (Postal Support Employee) very soon. I'm among the next few in line for the position, but there are some other matters that have to be fleshed out first.
Assuming it's true I'll be a PSE very soon, I have one thing to say about that - HALLELUJAH! :woot: :woot:

Oh fingers crossed over here for you, LD - I know how much that will mean to you! :pom:

Looks like I'll be a PSE within the next couple of weeks - only at the processing facility downtown (Jacksonville P&DC) instead of where I've been working for years (Jacksonville NDC). I went to the P&DC this morning and filled out some pre-hire paperwork, a medical history questionnaire, and also went through fingerprinting. I'll know somewhere in the next couple of weeks.

EXTREMELY HAPPY THOUGHT:
I GOT IT!!
I have orientation as a new Postal Support Employee (PSE) at the Jacksonville P&DC on Monday at 9 AM! It'll last 3 days, where I learn the ins and outs as well as the dos and don'ts of working there.
WHOO-HOO!! :woot: :woot:

:pom: WTG, LD! Big grats, mate...you really deserve it. I know things must have been rough for you (been there, done that, got the unwanted T-shirt). :yip: Will make a big difference for you, I'm sure. Great news.

Last night was my first night of work as a PSE. I had orientation Monday through Wednesday, was off Thursday, and came in last night - I'm on the midnight to 6 AM shift.
I'm about to turn in - been awake since about 8 PM last night.

It will probably take some time to re-adjust, but well done, mate. It's a great feeling, isn't it, though?

It sure is. It's been a long time since I was on the overnight shift, and I'm working at a place other than what I'm used to, but I'll adjust.
