Another LeaFy contribution from 2004...

Simply put, this is one of the best games that I've ever played, save for a few problems.

1. Kyo's one-hit-wonder piece of crap hook move from KoF2k shouldn't be there. Kyo should have that nice Fire pillar to combo move from KoF'97 and '98 as well as CVS 1 and 2 or his "Maiden Masher" wannabe from KoF2k1.
2. Iori's "smash into the freaking floor, then lift up in the air for an unlikely combo" move from KoF'99 and Evolution is nice, but I still prefer "Eight Wine Cups" from KoF '97 and '98 as well as CVS 1 and 2.
3. Certain characters, such as Mr. Karate (Takuma Sakazaki) and Zero are cheaper than anything in a dime store, man. When you can see cheap-ass combos being played off with Takuma's rediculous moves that, honestly, should never combo together, or when you see Zero racking up a combo of about 50 without you even getting a hit in edge-wise... you really have to think about why this is even remotely happening.
4. Why the hell is that creature from the Metal Slug series even in here? Those little bastards weren't even remotely worth the trouble (easy as hell to kill) when playing the MS series, so why are they such a bother now?
5. Where the **** is Orochi? Seriously, you've got one of his henchmen in the game (Goenitz) but still, I always thought Orochi to be much cooler to fight against.
6. Why the hell are the super-cheap characters (that everyone else, even the freakin' computer seems to somehow combo well together) so freakin' difficult to play as?
7. Why is Geese slower?

Things that I actually enjoy about this game are...
1. The verbal exchange before battle. I like it when Terry calls Chun-Li by a neat little nickname - "Legs" :)
2. Violent Ken. Let's be honest, how long have we suffered by watching Ryu get all of the super-special "violent" techniques as Evil Ryu? At least this evens up the odds between the two. (Although in my opinion, Violent Ken should be Psycho Ken)
3. Terry finally gets to use all three of his super special moves in one game - Power Geyser, Overshift Geyser, and Buster Wolf.
4. Finally, some higher-res pictures and not so crack-speed combo moves like from the crossover series of games (XMvSF, MSHvSF, MVC, MVC2, CVS, CVS2). Let's be honest here, at least this game is ever-so-slightly more realistic. Makes waiting for Sammy vs. Capcom much more bearable.
5. Tessa from the Pocket Fighter game finally makes another appearance in Capcom games. I hate it when some characters get neglected for almost no freakin' reason or point (Donovan from the Darkstalkers series, for instance - powerful enough to send that flaming freak into the Abyss, but *supposedly* not cool enough to be part of any other game)
6. Hugo, better known to the fans of Final Fight as Andore, makes another appearence since his re-debut from the Street Fighter 3 series. This makes the game slightly more laughable, but still serious enough to play.

All in all, I rate this game with 4.5 out of 5. It's great, it's got some replay value, but honestly, after a while, you're going to wonder why you played it so freakin' often.
